Salt is something that most of us use every single day. The Bible even refers to its ubiquitous importance. As I use so much of it I always try and buy a good quality salt – such as Himalayan sea salt, or other salts containing iodine. This home-made seasoning salt is so useful and versatile I use it every day both in cooking and on food. This post describes how to make home-made organic seasoning salt.

What you will need to make the home-made organic seasoning salt
All you need are a selection of herbs, good quality salt, and a food processor. The food processor is really important. I use a selection of both woody and soft herbs and also some lavender flowers. We grow a lot of our own herbs in the garden – they are very easy to grow.

Choose herbs that you like. Keep in mind that some herbs have stronger flavours than others – usually the Woody ones.
Purchase a good quality salt. I used Himalayan sea salt, but you could use any salt. It’s good to have iodised salt (which sea salt usually is) as this is a mineral we often lack in our diet and this is a good way to get it.
Remove any Woody bits from the herbs and fill your food processor 3/4 full with them and a quarter salt.
Mix together using the food processor until all the herbs are very finely chopped and the salt has turned green.
Remove from the food processor and spread out on a tray and allow to dry in the Sun . Then you’re ready to use! Store in an airtight container. this would also make a nice gift in a pretty jar.
